The advantages of using custom packing tape include:

  • Brand Recognition: Every shipped package becomes a mobile advertisement for your brand.

  • Professional Appearance: Packages look professional, reinforcing the quality and care put into your products and services.
  • Efficiency: Pre-printed tapes with messages reduce the need for additional labels, which saves time in the packaging process.
  • Information Communication:Useful for conveying handling and storage instructions, ensuring that products are treated correctly during shipping and storage.

The type of material determines how many colours can be printed onto the tape:

  • 3 colours plus a background flood coat.
  • 3 colours maximum on perforated tape.
  • Additionally, we can match your brand colours with accuracy for brand consistency.

Tape manufacturers will allow you to print virtually any design on tape if it meets their print quality requirements and is within the printable area of the tape. The flexographic method of printing has some limitations:

    • Minimum spacing in between elements: 0.35mm
    • Minimum line thickness: 0.3mm
    • Minimum font size: 3mm
    • No fades or gradients (solid colours only).
    • Tight registration particularly difficult to print on barrier tape and perforated labels.

Reverse or flood coat printing refers to a printing technique where the background colour of the tape is completely covered with ink, leaving the logo, text, or design elements in the original colour of the tape. This provides a bold visual effect where the design stands out against the solid-coloured background. It is an excellent choice for brands wanting high visibility and contrast for their packaging.

Yes, most custom tapes are printed using flexographic printing methods. Flexography is a popular method for printing large orders of custom tape due to its efficiency and quality. It involves using flexible relief plates and fast-drying inks, suitable for printing on a wide variety of materials. Flexographic printing produces sharp images, making it ideal for printing complex brand designs on tape.

Regular 100 metre rolls of custom printed tape can be applied manually with a pistol grip packaging tape dispenser. Printed machine rolls are 990 metres in length and are designed to be dispensed on a carton sealer machine for high volume and automated requirements. Rolls of perforated labels and printed paper tape have a 76mm core and can also fit on regular handheld tape dispensers. A water activated tape dispenser is required for applying gummed tape, rather than regular tape dispensers. This is because gummed tape has a water activated adhesive that requires moisture to be applied to the tape for the adhesion to become sticky.

High-quality customised printed tape is designed to resist fading and abrasion while being handled. However, extreme conditions and excessive friction can affect the ink printed on the tape.

Store printed tape in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent degradation of the adhesive and print quality.

Polypropylene tape and PVC tape might look similar, but they are made differently and have different properties that make them appropriate for different situations.

  • PVC tape is a heavy-duty material suitable for heavier shipments, maintaining strong adhesion in various conditions, including extreme cold. It's ideal for cool rooms and freezers.
  • Polypropylene tape with its hot melt adhesive, is more economical but better for lighter packages and not suited for low temperatures or certain types of cartons. For heavy-duty and cooler conditions, PVC tape is the recommended choice.
  • Printed tape can be customised to various widths to suit different applications. This ranges from 12mm to 144mm. For carton sealing applications, 48mm wide tape is the standard width. These rolls will fit on a regular tape dispenser gun and is the most popular size available.

    Common packaging tape customisations include:

  • Company logo and contact information: A simple way to increase brand awareness.
  • Custom colours and designs: Allowing creativity and standing out in the delivery process.
  • Informative messages: Critically important for parcels containing perishable, fragile, or hazardous materials.
  • Yes, we can perforate tape to create a roll of labels to tear off for your convenience. Our perforated custom printed labelsare a fast and economical alternative to individual stickers. With the option to choose up to 3 different colours, we can create personalised stickers for your business. We can also print on coloured tape including clear, white, orange, red, yellow, green. Printing on bold and fluorescent coloured tape ensures your label stands out.
